Legal proceedings
What we do?
We conduct lawsuits and strategic litigations aimed at achieving equality for LGBT+ people.
The practice of applying and interpreting the law is influenced by judgements issued by courts at the national and local level. These rulings shape the national line of jurisprudence. The legal situation of LGBT+ people in Poland also depends on judgments made by international courts, such as the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). In order for judgments issued at the national and international level to interpret the law in a more equal/favourable manner towards the LGBT+ community or to enforce changes in the existing Polish laws, there need to be litigations concerning LGBT+ people.
To this end, KPH initiates and participates in lawsuits and litigation processes (independently or in partnership) aimed at achieving positive outcomes for LGBT+ people in both national and international courts. Our priority is introducing legal changes in the area of family and transgender rights.
