Poland has never been so close to recognizing our relationships. We looked at everything we did last year and compiled the most important socio-political changes that affected the rights of LGBT+ people in Poland Last year we contributed to numerous successes for LGBT+ persons in Poland, such as the Supreme Court ruling on gender recognition procedures and the European Court of Justice ruling on the transcription of foreign same-sex marriage certificates. The ILGA-Europe Annual Review 2026 report (covering events in 2025) shows that the situation for LGBTI people in Poland remains very difficult. Another edition of Pride & Parent workshops is behind us, online workshops coming soon!
On 29–30 November, another Pride & Parent workshop took place in Wrocław – a unique event dedicated to queer women, mothers, and people with experiences of womanhood who are considering or already pursuing parenthood. During two days of sessions, participants had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the legal and medical aspects of LGBT+ parenting, as well as to discuss emotions, relationships, and lived experiences related to parenthood. What consistently proves to be the most valuable element of each meeting is mutual support, openness, and understanding. In the judgment published today, the Court of Justice of the European Union responded to a preliminary question submitted by the Supreme Administrative Court in Warsaw. The Court has no doubt that Poland must transcribe foreign marriage certificates of same-sex couples. The final day to apply for the “Building Equality Together” grant programme!
Today, November 25, marks the final day to submit applications for the “Building Equality Together” grant programme — an initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of local groups and organisations working for the LGBT+ community in Poland. The programme focuses particularly on those supporting LGBT+ children and youth, as well as trans, non-binary and intersex people, in towns and cities with up to 250,000 inhabitants. Through this initiative, local organisations, collectives and activists have been able to create spaces of support, acceptance and visibility for LGBT+ communities across Poland.
