On September 25, Warsaw once again became a stage where the most powerful voices in the fight for equality could be heard. During the festive gala marking the seventh edition of the contest organized by the Campaign Against Homophobia, the Equality Crowns were awarded, distinctions given each year to individuals, initiatives, and institutions that bravely advocate for the LGBT+ community. Due to Andrzej Duda’s election campaign and conservative politicians saying, “The LGBT community are not people, they are ideologies,” June’s Pride Month turned into a festival of homophobic hatred.
